Preface:

This is quite a long interview so I hope you guys are willing to sit down and read it. We do cover a lot of stuff in this interview and some of you may find some of the things interesting. We will be returning to regular schedule Saturday so be looking for that. Without further ado, lets get riiiiiiight into the news!

zs471:
Mother trucker dude that hurt like a butt cheek on a stick

Mitsuo:
Mother trucker indeed. To kick this interview into the next gear straight from the get go, we know Dragon1240 got a lot of love, and even an approved by Silas comment on his First Year With MCP Story. You’ve been here since the end of V2 so how do you feel the community has changed since the end of V2 up until this point?

zs471:
Many things can be said about the communities change from V2 to now in the seconds half of V6. I definitely liked the players back then a lot better than the players we’ve got now. People weren’t as scared to pvp as they are now, everybody was a bit more cancerous, but in a good way, we all had fun and nothing was taken too seriously. You might have seen a situation that went down recently between myself and a newer player by the name of Jerzeyboyz. A lot of people got their panties in a twist over what was said in chat, particularly Masterscare took it quite seriously for some reason. Back in say version three or four conversations like that were very much commonplace. It was toxic and it was fun. Now is much as we or Silas wouldn’t want to admit it, MCP is becoming a safe space, everything is being toned down to a PG or G rating, whether it’s by the high staff, the mods or just the player base. People are being or being restricted into being less vulgar and more family friendly, which sucks. I miss the unfiltered days where you can request another man to eat your ass and not almost get ban for it.

As far as the actual players go, back then we were all young and it was great. Now there is a clear line, you can tell who the newer young ones are and who the older people are. Something I’m guilty of myself is looking at the new young MCP players and thinking badly of them or the way they act, when in reality that is what all of us were like not two, three, four years ago. I’m not sure if it’s just the fond memories I have, but I believe I definitely liked all of the players from V3/V4 a lot better than the players we have now. I also believe there were far more active mainstream/teamspeak players back then as well which was always nice. You’re not really a real MCP player unless you’ve been in teamspeak. One thing has always been a constant on MCP through the years though. No matter what version or what group of people are active, there will always be prostitutes for hire, enjoy this montage: https://imgur.com/a/vqQyt
There’s many more, but I can’t be bothered to find them atm.

Mitsuo:
I know we touched a bit on the same subject in our last interview with Silas_Bowen on the nostalgia feeling a lot of the older players feel, especially when some demand that v3 be redone with everything that’s been added. You touched on the player base itself, but how do you feel about our current staff team compared to what we had back in the V3/V4 days? Guard differences, Moderator differences and everything in between. Do you feel that as the servers grown these two roles have been taken in the right direction or have they been given to much freedom with the powers they are given?

zs471:
As far as Moderators go, I liked how they were in V4/V5 up to even the convicted merge. Back when Moderators used Chat Offenses and had an actual system to muting people. I’m not talking about the real old days of lang 1 caps 2 dis 1. I’m talking about the semi old days of CO 1-3 then a 15m mute. It was nice, structured and easy to understand. It all went downhill when he merged with convicted and because they weren’t used to our Mod rules we were told to take a more relaxed approach with verbal warnings and mutes when necessary, but we still used chat offense strikes. That eventually evolves into the extremely relaxed set of non-official mod rules we use now. Hardly anyone will ever give a chat offense strike and when they do, they don’t really mean anything, you’ll get told to stop then eventually if you’re lucky or if the mod doesn’t like you, you’ll get a mute. I believe the Mod rules are much too relaxed right now. As for the people we have as mods. They try to be much too nice when it comes to their chat moderation responsibilities. They need to lay down the law and mute who needs to be muted. Be nice when you’re helping new players (which they rarely do anymore) but they have to be strict when it comes to moderating the chat. I like them as people, but they’re just way to nice of Mods.

zs471:
As for the guards, I’m not jumping on the guards are bad I hate the guards bandwagon, because I hate people who just say that with no reasoning. Some people hate the guards just to hate the guards. However, I do think the guards we have now are very bad. You’ve got:
Polardog who nobody is really sure if he’s even still alive.
Masterovie that doesn’t even really do his job most of the time. Likes to make stuff up to try to constantly one-up people. Thinks he’s a good guard because he’s been Sr. Guard forever, but really he just hasn’t done anything to get demoted yet and is only still guard because Silas doesn’t want to just randomly demote him.
Kittiwolf, refer to that MCP alert on him a few days prior. - http://forums.cdgs.net/index.php/topic,5487.0.html
Nator who is actually a cool guy and is probably the best of the worst in terms of guards. However there are a few things in particular I strongly dislike about his guarding habits.
Masterscare who takes his job far too seriously, he’ll go hard as a motherfucker to try and kill you if you just run by and punch him with your fist. Also takes social things far too seriously, see the abuse report on me by my bff JerzeyBoyz - http://forums.cdgs.net/index.php/topic,5490.0.html
Overall, they all suck and we should bring myself, pointlessbob, snipedyall and summonhalo back.

Mitsuo:
Personally without going into much detail myself, I’m sure a few members of the community would agree with what you’ve said. I know that you’ve been guard over your time on MCP, you’ve even helped test some of these guard updates, the introduction of guard classes, the nerfs, and rebuffing of guards. How do you feel these changes to the guarding system have affected pvp? Do you feel that they have deterred some of our players from pvp’ing?

zs471:
There’s nothing wrong with guards as a rank. Just guards as a people. The main issue with PvP now is everyone is a collector and nobody wants to die. It’s too hard to get these rare armor sets and weapons and nobody wants to die with them, then they won’t be able to brag about all the stuff they have. It used to be, good pvpers would have like 3 to 9 sets of protection 4, diamond armor and wouldn’t care if they died and lost a set or two, they’d always have or could make more. Now regular protection four diamond armor isn’t even viable to use, you’d die in an instant if you tried to use it in PvP or against guards. You HAVE to use all these new rare armor sets to stay in the game, but they’re too rare and everybody is too scared to use them in actual pvp, that’s the problem with pvp nowadays.

Mitsuo:
So how would you, as both a player, and a former guard, fix the pvp aspect of MCP? Would you return to the old school enchanting system that we had before Silas introduced the new enchanting system? Or would you go through and nerf some of the create items? And with the situation on P4, how would you make acquiring this armour easier, let alone good enough to be used in pvp against the guards. Would you buff it up to compete with some of the new OP gear or leave it as is?

zs471:
Regular protection four diamond armor is out of the question, we simply can’t go back to that, it’s now obsolete, not good enough to keep you alive for a reasonable amount of time. As for restoring PvP to how it was, when it was at one of its best. We don’t really need to nerf or buff anything or anyone. What we need is to encourage more PvP, these rare armor sets are the only way to stay alive in PvP, nobody wants to use them because they’re too rare and essentially collector’s items. Simply make all or some of these rare armor sets a bit more common from crates. Make it easier for people to get these armor sets, so they’re not so worried about dying with them. From what I understand it’s possible to craft that new dragon armor? Make some kind of fancy way to craft warden armor or silas, zeedin, geonat armor. Bring back the regen one buff to miner armor. This is the most important thing I hope is implemented to restore PvP to MCP: Make rare armor sets more common or easier to get or craftable. You pick.

Mitsuo:
Alright, that covers the armour situation but what about weapons? Do you feel that getting decent weaponry is a good chance from crates or is the normal Sharp IV Fire II not enough anymore? I know a while back we got rid of the whole Sharp V except on certain items. Do you feel as though Sharp V should be achievable through enchanting again or is it better that Sharp V is restricted to certain weapons. To follow up on that, what would you, being a large pvp’er yourself, say are the best armour/weapon combos? Obviously with how pvp goes on MCP you have to bring in extra crate items that give you health, random effects like strength ect, so what items would you through into your ideal PVP gear?

zs471:
I believe weaponry is fine how it is although it may be adjusted if/when the armor sets get adjusted. I don’t think sharpness five should be brought back, you can still get it on some crate items, it should however be re-added to Rakuel. Right now I would definitely say warden armor is the meta, it’s the easiest to obtain rare armor set and it actually viable for PvP. Now I say it’s the easiest to obtain, but it’s still not as common as it should be to encourage players to PvP. As far as weapons, I used to run the off-hand morgul blade, but Silas nerfed it into oblivion to the point where it might as well be junk which is pretty sad. He increased the life-steal ability cooldown from 3 seconds to something like 10 or 15 which was bad enough on its own, but he also removed to ability to use it in the off-hand. I believe the Morgul Blade needs a relook and needs to be made great again. As far as actual weapons, right now I’m running Nox’s crate item, sharp 5 fire 2 Masamune, however my healing axe is currently the best in slot item for weapons. Support items include, kittiwolf’s bone, mattmab’s munchies, jelly slime, taser, joe joe’s heart.

Mitsuo:
Hopefully with this basic pvp build guide some of the players will take this into consideration and start pvping once again. Sure you may lose some things but that’s all part of the game right? Switching directions from the pvp aspect to the financial aspect on the server. How do you feel the MCP Financial state is doing right now? Are there items you feel personally are overpriced compared to their usefulness? And on the flip side what are some items that you feel should be going for a lot more on the market than what they currently are?

zs471:
The economy is doing pretty good so far since the reset overall. One thing that jumps into my mind right away from your questions is the dragon egg. They used to be worth at least 100k, usually a lot more. Now for some reason they are worth a quarter of that even though they are even more useful than before. You can get one of many boss weapons with them which is pretty good considering the rarity of decent weapons nowadays. As far as overpriced items, stuff is worth a different amount to different people, some collectors will pay out the ass for a special named item while someone like myself who doesn’t do collecting wouldn’t pay much for it.

Mitsuo:
In your opinion, what do you feel is the most rare item on the server currently? I know we currently have a server full of custom crate items, boss items, ect, but what is the most rare item? Obviously to try and clarify the question, based off the usefulness of the item, how easy it is to obtain, and price based what do you feel is the most rare item on the server to obtain and use?

zs471:
I don’t particularly keep up with what’s on the server as far as people owning rare items. However, the only instance of my healing axe I know of is in Mattmab’s inventory. My healing axe is the most useful item on the server PvP wise and I only know of one existing, so I’d say that.

Mitsuo:
Back in the last version of V6, and in V5. Warden Geonat was working on the famous Tavern. After the reset he has claimed that all progress has been lost and that he is no longer working on it. Many players along with yourself I do believe helped pitch in work on the Tavern. So with the cancellation of the Tavern how do you feel this will affect the morale of the players that helped? If the Tavern is indeed gone from MCP what do you hope to see Geonat work on next?

zs471:
Yee the tavern has been an on and off project for a while now, it was actually finished and released at one point when there were a few of us actively helping Geonat build it. Through map resets stuff has been lost and rebuilt, overall Geonat just doesn’t want to work on it alone and there’s no other builder/warden like him who could provide the help that he would need. Sure myself and sometimes others will assist in building or conceptualizing the tavern, but we just can’t do all that needs to be done from a prisoner’s survival mode perspective. With Geonat being essentially the only warden he would be doing the brunt of the work which he just doesn’t have the motivation or perhaps know-how to do. As far as his next project, maybe he’ll have a hand in the new Marketplace if that actually happens.

Mitsuo:
The Black Market is a big talking point as of now. Another big talking point as of late is “New Events.” A few ideas have been thrown out already by various members of our community. What are your thoughts on the ideas that have been provided so far? What are some events that you would like to see on the server? And as a long time player you have seen the suggestion to “PVP Events” What is your take on this form of events being added?

zs471:
Yee I think my Market idea that I tagged on to Panda’s suggestion is really good, hopefully that happens, that’d be pretty cool. We’ve got a shit ton of events honestly at this point when day time events run it should add a random 12 events to the queue, not every single event, because eventually there’ll be like 20 events and it’d take three hours to get over with. As far as if new events were added what would they be, I’m not sure, maybe some legacy events? Tnt run? Old-school skydive, I loved old-school skydive. PvP events wouldn’t work because factions, even if there was a work-around I’m not sure it’d be a great idea, the closest thing we’ve got now is zombie survival and that’s good enough for me.

Mitsuo:
The Market suggestions that have been put out there seem like pretty good ideas, and hopefully will be added sooner rather than later. Mixing up the events themselves from a day to day basis is a good idea as well, though I feel that one event everyone will be expecting to be daily will be the “Block Party Event”. Bringing back a few of the old school events is also a good idea I feel personally. Changing directions however, the future of MCP. As we’ve stated a few times in this interview you have been around for quite a while. Five years correct? Has there been times that you have lost interest in continuing to play MCP? What keeps bringing you back after so many years of dedicating yourself to this server? Also, what does the future hold for you in V6, what are your biggest plans you hope to accomplish?

zs471:
Yeah I’ve been on the for aboot five years now. I’ve taken many extended breaks from MCP over the past half a decade sometimes I’ll just get tired of the people on MCP and wait it out until better ones come along. Sometimes I’ll stop playing MCP, but keep playing other games with the community in teamspeak like I’ve been doing for the past bit more than a month. The biggest break I’ve taken is a bit more real life related, when I enlisted in the Army I had to remove myself from MCP for about six months which was admittedly pretty hard for the first few days. I didn’t know who was going to still be there when I got back or if I would even want to come back to MCP. Leaving MCP and not knowing if I would go back to it was probably harder than leaving my family haha. I keep coming back to the server mainly because of the community. The prison server is great and all, but if I didn’t know anybody on the server I definitely would not spend my time here, it’s just not my thing anymore. However I’m too attached to the community at this point and can’t leave it. Even when I leave the server, I’m always still with the community. I don’t really have any master plan for V6, maybe I can help resurrect MCP PvP with some of my suggestions here, boost the community markets with my market suggestions, really I don’t feel like just another MCP player playing the server. I just want to improve it in any way that I can and help suggest things that might help out. I’ve been do whatever I can to help the server for a long time, I’ve been staff more than I’ve been a player. I’d love to even be staff again if I could, but honestly I’m just much too busy anymore, at least for a while. Between work, Army obligations, staying fit, school, relationships, I’m spread pretty thin for time and am struggling to keep up as it is. For now I’ll just remain a casual player, a part of the community and somebody who likes to give suggestions to help improve the server.

Mitsuo:
I personally hope a few of the suggestions you have given out here today will be implemented. Though touching on MCP Alert quickly for a few questions, how do you feel about us personally? You’ve worked with us on a few projects yourself, the whole “Scarce here” video you made to introduce yourself to the readers was a good sign and possibly something we will see from more of our writers as we move into a video format as well as hard copy format. How would you say working with us has been? Just your experience overall while working with us, and what would you say would further the news section of MCP, with more and more news organizations coming out of the woodwork.

zs471:
I think MCP Alert is a good way to keep the community engage with each other. It is personally a lot of fun for me to participate in. For those of you who don’t know, most of the “roast articles” are written by me, the very few that are not written by me specifically have my ideas and some bits by me all over them. Sometimes it’s a bit hard, because I really do want to be friends with everyone on the server, I don’t dislike anybody. It’s easy for me to seperate what happens as essentially formatted shit posting on the forums and actual relationships with others on the server. However, some people take things pretty seriously or personally and it hemorrhages out relationship as a result. This is something I attempted to remedy with my “Scarce Here” video where I revealed what I look like and roasted myself on an MCP Alert special, however in my opinion the Satire/Joke went right over most people’s head. Working with MCP Alert has been a lot of fun, it definitely keeps the server interesting. I think MCP Alert is great and should keep doing what it’s doing. I also encourage other news organizations to keep popping up and making their own news, if it’s just regular server news that’s cool, if you wanna trash MCP Alert in your own newspaper gopher it! Trash MCP Alert, trash our writers, just write normal news, you could even write news about the news there’s an idea. I do strongly encourage other news organizations to keep going and don’t get shutout be me or MCP Alert saying a few bad things about you in a news article.

Mitsuo:
I know back when PJR started over on the forums we attempted to start a beef with them, however they in turn shut down. It was told to us by Nator later on that he was already looking for a reason to cancel his Christmas crate giveaway on PJR. The biggest issue between MCP Alert and the community is as you stated, some people take things pretty seriously or personally. How do you think MCP Alert would have fit back into the days of V3//V4 when this type of behavior was more or less a “standard” Do you think we would run into the issues we seem to run into with the current player base or would it have been a prime time for News beef?

zs471:
I don’t believe MCP Alert could have every worked in the times of V3/V4 simply because the community was too young. If someway MCP Alert did exist back then people probably would not get as triggered as they do nowadays. You’d probably get responses along the lines of “you’re KOS” (kill on sight) or my faction will kill you or I’ll raid your faction base. It was a much more PvP oriented time whereas now everything is more socially oriented and people get their feelings hurt too easily.

Mitsuo:
Talking about factions, how do you feel the factions have evolved over the versions. I know I haven’t seen a “KOS” list since roughly mid v4, or just about when crates started becoming popular and what not. Do you feel factions should be revamped on the server to encourage players to team up and bring back things such as faction beefs and huge faction fights whether it’s in the prison or the free world? How would you personally fix the factions in its current state?

zs471:
Nothing is really wrong with factions, they’re just not needed anymore with the way the server is going. Factions used to be based on grinders and mob spawners. These are not really needed anymore due to you not needing exp for anything anymore. People used to grind out exp to enchant multiple sets of p4 to PvP. Now protection four armor is useless so there’s no point in farming exp. As far as faction wars, I wish they still happen, but nowadays people all clunk up in one or two factions and nobody wants to fight with anybody else. I don’t know how to fix it, grinders aren’t really needed anymore, maybe increase the sell price of shards in the BM or give exp another use. The whole PvP gear revamp thing I suggesting might help stir up some faction beef maybe I dunno.

Mitsuo:
Back in the day End grinders were big things, I know blaze farms were another good way for exp. Factions was a good way for everyone to get to know one another, bringing in some players as soon as they hit Free based off of their skill. I think we’ve more or less covered everything up, so is there any last minute comments you want to throw out to the audience? Anything you want to point out in the interview, something like the Market suggestions or whatever?

zs471:
Not really, I believe we covered most things in this interview, if not we could always do another.
I hope the things mentioned here are implemented, as they’d be a great help to the server.
Great interview, it has been a fun week answering all these terrible questions.
Gravitating more toward to suggestions, perhaps someone could make a real suggestions post for them.
Everybody loves a good suggestions, you do, I do, we all do really.
Really it has been a great interview thank you for having me, perhaps we can do it again sometime.
