You may jail a player for banking, this happens when a player is clearly accessing a virtual chest or enderchest, either on a plot, in a bank, or a virtual pocket item, to get rid of or swap contraband. You may only jail for this if you are calling for an item or about to call for an item, try to avoid jailing players that are acquiring more items from chest on their plots, this is the guard’s discretion

If a player has enough time to safezone and warp away before you start calling for their contraband you may no longer call for that player’s contraband but may still give a pvp warning. If you begin counting down and before they warp away you may jail for evading, 5 minutes. This situation also applies during mass riots, if multiple people are attacking you and they all teleport away throughout the riot or disperse you may only call the contraband of the last ones to safezone assuming they haven’t warped away and follow all other calling rules. If you lose line of sight for an extended period of time, generally 30 seconds or enough time for the player to warp away, you may still give a pvp warning if you no longer know where they are but you cannot call for contraband.

If you get knocked into an area where you can no longer fight, i.e. an empty plot that has a basement and you cannot get out, you are to give the rioters a pvp warning and call for their contraband, it is up to the player to throw the contraband into the area where the guard can reach it

You should only call for contraband if you are not actively engaging in a large scale riot, however calling contraband once you are no longer being engaged is fine

Guards should not patrol in disguises but are allowed to do so in mega plots and events

If a player is holding contraband in an area where you cannot reach you should give adequate time for the player to either warp or come out of said area to give you the contraband, if a player runs into an area in the middle of a riot and a guard cannot reach that area (Player runs into b-block but you’re only a C-guard) you may give them a pvp warning and start calling for their contraband as normal, the player should drop their contraband in reach of the guard, if not you may still jail them

If a player intentionally or accidentally clicks a warp sign you may give the player a pvp warning and you can call for their contraband, it is up to the guard to give the player adequate time to give up their contraband, if a guard accidentally hits one of these signs during a riot they cannot call a pvp warning and they cannot call for contraband that took place in the riot prior to warping

A guard may attack a player if the player pocket sands the guard or another player, rods the guard or another player, or uses a special crate item on another player that affect them in a negative way. However this is the guard’s choice

Guards may sell, trade, and buy contraband only from other guards

Guards are not encouraged to grind other guards on alt accounts

If you hit a player into a safezone give the player time to exit the safe zone before giving them a pvp warning, however if the player starts eats a gapple, consumes drugs or potions, or uses the safe zone in any way, shape, or form to gain an advantage you may still give them a pvp advantage. Generally they should be right back in and out while constantly making an effort to leave the safezone. Pvp warnings should only be given if the player stays inside the safe zone for more than a second without constantly making an effort to escape or if they use it to gain an advantage. If a player is hit into the safezone and they make it out without you giving them a pvp warning you do not have to wait for them to hit you back before you continue fighting.

You may call for custom crate items if they are not already contraband (swords, bows, etc are already contraband when a stick, blaze powder, or water bucket are not) but only if they are used in pvp. You would call for a custom crate sword as you would a normal sword.

If you see arrows coming from a player’s direction and you can confirm without a doubt that player is the only one in that area you can call for their bow without directly seeing it. (Ex: You see someone in the parkour claim area above C and they are the only ones up there and you see arrows coming from up there, you can call for that person’s bow, same with walls, plots, etc)

This guide has been created so you can do something useful when your lagging besides saying "lag" in chat.
In this guide I will go over the following:
What lag is.
What kinds of lag there are.
Sources of lag & what kind of lag you may have.
How to solve lag.



What lag is:
According to the internet the definition of lag is "fall behind in movement, progress, or development; not keep pace with another or others."
When the term "lag" is used on the internet it generally means that your computer, network, or destination is not keeping up due to it not being able to handle the task or collective tasks handed to it.


Summary: Lag is your computer/internet/server not being fast enough.




What kinds of lag exist:
When it comes to Minecraft there are three main kinds of lag: PC/Computer lag, Network lag, and Host lag.


PC/Computer lag:
This is lag that comes from your computer not being powerful enough to handle all the tasks given to it. This lag usually displays itself in low FPS (Frames per second) which makes your game seem to jump around and be choppy. Minecraft is a very hard to run game so many computers have this problem.
There are ways to improve this lag which are shown below in the post.


Network lag:
When referring to "Network " I am meaning your home Internet connection. Network lag is usually caused by too many things using your internet. When too many things use your bandwidth (Internet speed) you don't have enough to go around resulting in slow response to your actions/disconnection from the server. Internet issues usually display themselves in the form of high ping (ping being how long it takes for your actions to process) or disconnection/dropping connection from the server. This lag presents itself with either slow response time (such as breaking a block but it not dropping the item until a second later) or by disconnecting you at seemingly random intervals.
There are ways to improve this lag which are shown below in the post.


Host lag:
Host lag means the host (the server) is lagging. If this is the case then there is little you can do besides confirm it is the host lagging and not your Network/Computer. Server lag usually presents itself in 3 ways:
- Spikes of everything/everyone freezing (most common)
- Host lag. Similar to network lag the server takes time for your actions to process such as a block you break taking 2 seconds to drop. This means the server is overloaded on our end. (less common)
- Server crash. When this happens it means that something has gone wrong on the technical end or the server has been incredibly overloaded. Most of the time when this happens it's due to a technical fault such as a server error crashing the server and requiring it to restart. (least common)

As stated before there is little you can do to fix this lag. We always are looking to reduce lag on our end to create the best playing experience possible.
There are ways to identify and report this lag below

If you feel like your game is choppy/slow at all to look around then it could be Computer/PC lag.
There's a simple way to tell if your computer is lagging which is by checking your FPS (Frames per second) any less than 30 FPS will make your game seem slow/choppy. To check your FPS do the following (Make sure to follow the tutorial for windows/mac depending on what you use).

If your game is frequently "locking up" and everything on screen freezes for a second then it is most likely your computer having performance issues. If this only occurs at one spot on the server then this is likely the server causing your computer to lag due to lots of entities/mobs. Look for "Resolving computer lag" below in this post if this type of lag occurs everywhere around the server map.

Step 1: Launch Minecraft & Connect to the server
Step 2: Press F3
Step 3: look at the top left and look for "X FPS".

The first symptom of network can be "action delay" otherwise known as "high ping". Ping is the amount of time in milliseconds it takes for your Network to send and receive the information from the server. Usually 150+ ms ping causes your lag and for it to cause things such as chests taking a second to open. To identify if you have high ping as a result of your internet connection follow these steps below.

Identifying Action Delay (High ping)
Step 1: Open your Minecraft and go to your multiplayer menu.
Step 2: The next step is to hover your mouse cursor above the green connection bar of the CDGS server you have in your list (if you used direct connect you'll need to add the server to your list).
Step 3: It should look something like this attached image (the number of ms will likely be different than in the image)

Step 4: If the number displayed is above 150ms then this means high ping is the cause of your lag but there is still one more step. If your ping is not above 150ms then the lag is likely on the servers end.
Step 5: You now need to repeat step 1-4 again except with a different server such as hypixel.net

Step 6: If your ping was 150ms+ when connecting to CDGS but significantly less when checking another server then the lag is likely on our end and you have nothing to worry about. (Keep in mind you should test with a North American based server otherwise that could falsify the results.)
Step 7: If your ping was 150ms+ when checking both servers then the lag is most likely your connection/network. To see if this can be resolved go to the "Resolving Network Lag" section below.

Identifying Random Disconnects
To identify if it is you or the server causing these disconnects follow these steps below
  • Check if other players disconnecting: If you see other members frequently logging in/out then it is likely the server. You can confirm this easily by asking "is anyone else getting disconnected?" if other players say "yes" then it is likely server issues causing the disconnection. If this is the case feel free to let a staff member know. If no one else seems to be having issues then it is likely your home connection and you should follow the remaining steps.
  • An easy way to check if it's your connection causing the issues is to try loading a different web page such as youtube.com. If youtube.com loads then this confirms your internet connection is working. 99% of the time this means the fault is on the server the other 1% of the time it means it is your internet service provider having issues connecting to our servers and there is nothing you can really do (fix this up later)

3rd Once the money is received remove the item frame and let them pick it up.

Now I know they could just run in and pick it up. So you could ask them to sit in a box so they can't just run out right away, or put the item frame on a piston and have the piston brake the item frame.

And yes this is not 100% safe but it is a quick and easy way of adding a bit of safety when trading high value items, and this would only work if it is a item with a colored name.

#4 Never cuss in your application.
#5 What ever you do, don't mess around in your application, this would be really Immature. (I wouldn't use these:  snoopdawg illuminati noob kappabane Ect.)

I know I won't be the best person for guard, and my pvp skills aren't the best (Ya they suck XD) but, this is a great opportunity for me to help the server out. I understand if you don't pick me, they are better future guards out there, I'm glad to play on MCP as a player anyway. Thank you for reading my application, I hope I'll be considered.

This isn't  the best app but when you apply make sure you.
#1 Read the rules! (This is a big one)
#2 Fix grammar mistakes, capitals, commas, periods, ect.
#3 Tell them why you should be guard, how long have you played? Do you know the rules? How did you dedicate yourself for the server? Ask forgiveness to your fellow haters too, and mean it.
#4 Never cuss in your application.
#5 What ever you do, don't mess around in your application, this would be really Immature. (I wouldn't use these:  snoopdawg illuminati noob kappabane Ect.)
#6 Make a long application, not too long but decent.

Now as you can see this person did abuse a bug and he still said he wasn't at fault. He wasn't admitting his mistake that is what causes ban appeals to get  deniedimj. Now there is one time you can use no I am not at fault and that is when you get banned as a joke. For example last map I got banned because I killed astral's alt when he hit me when I was guard and I yelled in ts "get rekt fools" and he banned me on MCP for "get rekt fools" permanently so I said in my app that it wasn't my fault and since it was a joke ban I made a joke appeal.
    Now tips to making good ban appeal if you get banned for a reason let's use _Efex as an example. Say he was hacking and got banned for it.
Tip #1:
    Try and see it from the admin/mods perspective of why they banned you.
Tip #2:
    Be nice and tell the truth in your app say it's your fault and take responsibility.
Tip #3:
    This has to be obvious but some people do it, don't cuss out people who can unban you.
Tip #4:
    Don't cuss in your appeal.
Tip #5:
    Don't blame other people.
Tip #6:
    Don't avoid bans with alts.
Tip #7:
    Don't appeal for tempbans it just spams forums and it's annoying.

Useful commands for regular players

/addiction - Tells you what level of addiction you have to drugs.
/drugs - Tells you whether or not you're going to die if you continue to take drugs.
