Guard Buff Rework - Dragon1240 - Jul 22nd, 2018

Instead of buffing the guards more and more until they stop getting bumm raped why don't we look at other solutions?

Solution 1: Start ranking players by their GKDR ( Guard Kill Death Ratio) and then if a guard engages in a player with a high GKDR then the guard will get more buffs. For the formula I would suggest Guard Kills * 2 / Deaths from a Guard * 1.5 If a guard is tagged by a player with a high GKDR then the guard will get higher buffs temporarily until he is hit by the same player or another player with a similar GKDR. If a player with a high GKDR constantly tries to suicide by punching a guard over and over after respawn then their GKDR will not move and they will be jailed for longer.

Solution 2: If a guard is tagged more than 5 times by 2 or more players they are given extra buffs. Depending on the amount of tags from different people decides the amount of buffs to give the guard.

Solution 3: Give the guards better gear, I have noticed when fighting guards if they are able to kill someone and acquire extra gaps they generally last longer / do better in fights. I would suggest giving the guards more gaps or atleast the ability to buy guard gapples in the armory.

P.S. I'm not cougarboy even though these suggestions are shit however could be better if actually put thought into

I agree with the idea of buffing guards. However, the way I see it, solution one would most likely have to go under construction for a long period of time (which Silas does not have) and would be very confusing. It would have to involve permissions plugin, and would most likely require several other plugins to work together for it to happen. Storing the player's individual GKDR wouldn't be a problem, as it would be less than a few KB, but deciding the buffs to give the guard in a split second after being tagged would probably put stress on the server, making it perform less efficiently. Solution two would be easier, but would be very easy to abuse. All the guard would have to do is convince players to punch them once or twice to get buffs. Solution three would be the easiest and least time consuming. Creating a new kit isn't hard, and adding sale signs to the armory for gapps is a great idea. You'd just have to keep them on a cool down, as if a guard can go buy 128 gapps at a time, they'd be almost unstoppable in new buffed gear.

I like the ideas though, and remember, my opinion doesn't matter. Just throwing some things out there <3

#1 - This is not a horrible idea and other dynamic solutions have been thought but generally coming up with one would require a lot more time than I have. Yours in particular as you said would not work due to players being able to tank their GKDR and having to police/limit that wouldn't be feasible. As for changing guard buffs on how many players hit it's not a bad idea and I have considered it but ultimately it might create inconsistent gameplay and we'd have to add checks for if it's just C blockers hitting them.

#2 - Not a bad idea but probably won't happen unless I really think it out.

#3 - We may do small buffs to guards such as increased sharpness maybe an extra heart etc. Thinking about PvP it usually comes down to either who can kill the other player or who has the most gold apples. Guards could do with extra health to burn through more supplies of attacking players but still dying in the end. We also previously buffed guard gold apple counts significantly and I'll look to doing it again. Another option is to give guards another actual item buff like making the tasers better when a guard uses them.

Thanks for the suggestions and making me think about the issue to formulate a response.

It would have to be made so only guards can have it in their inventory that way guards don't store them in their vchest for later use when they get demoted or sell them for a shiz load to players

[/quote] yea like make it so it sticks in your inventory and you can’t drop it or move it anywhere except your inv.

you buff guards then its becomes to hard for players in p4 to kill them, however buffing them would just allow those with silas armour and piles of crate items to delay them from killing you. To really have a great pvp atmosphere then we need to nerf or even remove stuff like silas armour and all these crate items

tbh p4 should be the best Armour since we added drugs.  If you’re truly good at pvp you shouldn’t need custom Armour and swords and drugs.  That’s my opinion.  V3 everyone had 2-3 sets of p4 and riots would last 30 minutes sometimes and no one had sharp V because Silas got rid of them.
