Heads up on harassment and bullying. - DogTag93 - Dec 6th, 2018 It came to my attention today while talking to a player that there has been excessive amounts of teasing that's turned into bullying of a user. I want to apologize to the user for not noticing how out of hand it had gotten. I understand some amount of toxicity is normal here on MCP and we are all guilty of it at one point or another. I think it's important to note that this is just a game in the larger scheme of things and we shouldn't try to take it so seriously to the point of bullying someone off the server. It's the holidays and we should be more giving as a community. It's okay not to like someone but going to the extent to constantly make a point to insult a user is going too far. If I continue to see or hear about more bullying I will start handing out bans and fines. If someone has to come to me even after they've used /ignore we are going to have an issue. This also goes for players retaliating to the bullying. If you feel that things are getting out of hand don't treat them the same way they treat you or I will punish you both. I will reach out to the users involved to resolve the issue before a punishment is necessary. Overall we should be doing everything we can to let this community grow and this goes for everyone, especially the veteran players. Re: Heads up on harassment and bullying. - Cpt_PandaPantz - Dec 7th, 2018 Very well said.
Or instead of using /ignore when they’ve been told to stop talking to the person they instead antagonize them in hopes of getting them banned Re: Heads up on harassment and bullying. - Hypogre - Dec 7th, 2018 (Dec 7th, 2018, 04:31 AM)Dragon1240 link Wrote:
The problem is very few people actually utilize /ignore.
Or instead of using /ignore when they’ve been told to stop talking to the person they instead antagonize them in hopes of getting them banned
When and if I come across people who clearly instigate arguments I will deal with them. Anyone has the ability to /ignore, if you feel someone is trying to antagonize a fight with you ignore them and let me or any of the other staff know. Like I stated in the original message people who bully and people who retaliate will get punished just the same. Normally people in mcp get along and teasing is normal for us which is why I will talk to everyone first before punishments are dished out. That way there is no confusion when action is taken. This isn't a new rule this is just a reminder that we have rules and limits to how far things need to go. I also want to make a point that it is highly inappropriate for staff to knowingly join in or be apart of any acts of bullying or retaliation. Staff are the face of MCP, lets not tarnish that.
